Vice President of Research and Hotel Initiatives
Fritz Smith was recently appointed as Vice President of Research and Hotel Initiatives at VISIT PHILADELPHIA. In this role he will lead the direction and management of strategic hotel programs and packages; oversee visitor, hotel, economic impact and program research, manage VISIT PHILADELPHIA’s AAA/CAA marketing program; and serve as the company liaison for select regional, state and national relationships.
Smith spent 10 years working in the hotel industry at properties in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and New York City. He served in Pennsylvania’s Tourism Office during the Administration of former Governor Tom Ridge, rising to the position of Deputy Secretary of Tourism, Film, and Economic Development. He later served as Vice President of Tourism at the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, where he led the city’s rise from the 21st to the 12th most visited city by international travelers.
